چکیده
Protein Description 393 amino acids; 53 kDa phosphoprotein; contains, from N-term to C-term, a transactivation domain, a DNA-binding domain, nuclear localization signals and a tetramerization domain. Expression Widely expressed. Localisation Nucleus. Function Tumour suppressor gene; P53 is a transcriptional regulator acting as a guardian of the genome; in response to DNA damage, p53 is overexpressed and activates the transcription of genes such as p21 (implicated in cell-cycle arrest) and BAX (implicated in apoptosis); these activations allow either the cells to repair DNA damage before entering further in the cell cycle, or to be eliminated. In both cases, the consequence is to prevent propogation of cells containing genetic alterations. Homology The five domains are highly-conserved regions between species.

Purification and characterization of a novel secondary fimbrial protein from Porphyromonas gulae
BACKGROUND Porphyromonas gulae are black-pigmented anaerobic bacteria isolated from the gingival sulcus of various animal hosts and are distinct from Porphyromonas gingivalis originating in humans. We previously reported the antigenic similarities of 41-kDa fimbriae between P. gulae ATCC 51700 and P. gingivalis ATCC 33277. In this study, to clarify the presence of another type of fimbriae of P....
متن کاملPurification and characterization of a novel secondary fimbrial protein from Porphyromonas gingivalis strain 381.
We previously reported the existence of two different kinds of fimbriae expressed by Porphyromonas gingivalis ATCC 33277. In this study, we isolated and characterized a secondary fimbrial protein from strain FPG41, a fimA-inactivated mutant of P. gingivalis 381. FPG41 was constructed by a homologous recombination technique using a mobilizable suicide vector, and failed to express the long fimbr...
متن کاملEvaluation of Chlamydia pneumoniae 43- and 53-kilodalton recombinant proteins for serodiagnosis by Western Blot.
Chlamydia pneumoniae is a common cause of respiratory infection. It has also been shown to be associated with coronary heart disease. Two proteins that have been reported to be recognized frequently during human infection are proteins having molecular masses of 43 and 53 kDa. In order to develop a useful alternative serological test to the microimmunofluorescence (micro-IF) assay, recombinant 4...
متن کاملPurification and partial characterization of candidate antidiuretic hormone water channel proteins of M(r) 55,000 and 53,000 from toad urinary bladder.
Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) increases toad bladder granular cell apical membrane osmotic water permeability (Pf) by insertion of cytoplasmic vesicles containing water channels into the apical membrane. Termination of ADH stimulation results in endocytosis of water channel-containing membrane. In previous work, we have purified water channel-containing vesicles and demonstrated that they contain ...
